Description:  Join us every Thursday for Guy’s Group. Each meeting starts with a game or activity. Then we’ll mix it up; we might discuss an upcoming field trip, plan a community service event or talk about our goals for the future. To wrap up we always do something fun like climb the Rock Wall, play video games or have sumo suit challenges.

Activity Name:   Girl’s Group

Description:  Join Chop’s Teen Club’s Girl’s Group for tons of fun this summer! Enjoy field trips, art projects and creating nail designs. We’ll also do make-up application and hairdos! Activity Name:   Member Meetings

Description:  Members, this is your time to come together as a group to voice your opinions and have a role in shaping future programming and activities. The member meetings are held on the last Saturday of each month and are facilitated by our Member Council. Council members meet with our staff mentors who help them develop leadership skills necessary to represent their peers.

Activity Name:  Water Days

Cool off from the summer heat and join us for Chop’s Annual Water Days!  By popular demand, we have 4 of these refreshing fun-filled days on the calendar. 6/15, 6/29, 7/20 & 8/10. We will play different water activities such as Capture the Flag, water balloon fights, Hot Potato (water balloon style), Water Cup Derby and many more! Permission slips needed for a walking field trip to our neighborhood DeMeo Park.

Activity Name:  Movies on the Square

On this fun outing, members will choose a movie to see at Roxy on the Square once a month. On 6/12, 7/10 & 8/7 Staff will chaperone this walk over to the theater. All movies are just $3. Bring a friend and get two movie passes, two popcorns, and two drinks for only $10! Permission slips are needed for this excursion. Please see the front desk for details. Movie titles and time of departure from Chop’s subject to movie availability.

Activity Name:   R U Ready? Work Certificate Program

Description:   Join us for an 8 week course that is designed to prepare teens on how to get a job and keep it. This Work-Ready Certification course focuses on 15 competencies that Sonoma County Employers identified as being needed for success on the job. Local employers will host “mock interviews” for participants to practice their interviewing skills and may lead to jobs. Successful participants will walk away with a professional portfolio and a “Work Ready Certificate.” Must register by September 28.

Activity Name:   Awesome Pretzel Cart

Description:  Join us for a two-week hands on work experience program. You will learn the basics of running a pretzel cart business. We will be using Chop’s very own pretzel cart to teach business skills such as customer service, cash handling, food safety and sanitation and best of all, to sell delicious pretzels. This course meets the requirement for eligibility to work the Awesome Pretzel Cart at community events. Information will be provided on obtaining the  Food Handler’s Certificate.

Activity Name:  Basic Food Handler Certification

Description:  In order to work in the food service industry in the State of California you are required to get your food handler certificate. This two hour course and test covers all of the required topics such as proper times and temperatures for cooking and storing food, personal hygiene, equipment sanitation and much more. Upon the completion of the course, you will receive the California Food Handler’s Certificate, which is good for three years.  This certificate is required to work the Chop’s Awesome Pretzel Cart at community events.

Activity Name:   Beginning Photoshop

Description:   Photoshop is an advanced software program used by artists, graphic designers, and photographers to create and manipulate graphic and photographic imagery. This course is designed to help you learn the basics of Photoshop. Some of the areas to be covered will include pixels, color managements, scanning, saving files, navigating, layer basics, various layering techniques, paint, using select brushes, selection tools, image adjustments, masks and composing.

 Activity Name:  Digital Video Making

Description:  Learn the craft of video production! In this class you will get an introduction to digital video and basic camera operation, framing and shooting video. We will also cover basic workflow from planning, to shooting, and editing. You will have an opportunity to learn techniques on how to make your video look like a professional production.

Activity Name:  Bit of Reality – Personal Finance Workshop

Description:  Where does my parent’s money go? Why are we always on a budget? What IS a budget and why does it matter so much? These questions and many more can be answered with a Bite of Reality! Brought to you by Chop’s Teen Club, the RMJ Foundation and Redwood Credit Union. This 2.5 hour hands-on simulation gives teens a real-world understanding of income and expenses, windfalls, and unexpected bills. Teens are given a career and income, maybe a family, perhaps some debt, then it’s up to them to make financial choices and manage their money in a safe, fun, engaging environment.

Activity Name:  Creek Clean Up

Description:  Join us every first Saturday of the month as we walk from Chop’s to Olive Park and clean up the Prince Memorial Greenway. Remember to wear closed toed shoes and clothes that you can get dirty, and plan to stick around for FREE PIZZA at noon. PERMISSION SLIP REQUIRED for this activity. Please ask the front desk for the permission slip to have your parents sign.

Activity Name:   Interact General Meeting

Description:   Join Interact Club every fourth Friday and develop leadership skills while helping others. Sponsored by the Santa Rosa Rotary West, Interact Club commits to complete two community service projects each year, including one that furthers international understanding and goodwill. Interact experience is a great resume builder, and can help get you into the college of your choice.
